Early Years

Year 1
In year 1 the children will learn:
Weather & Seasons

To know how to fill in and use a class weather chart

Have an awareness of changes in weather and seasons

Identify seasonal and daily weather patterns in the United Kingdom

To know how the weather impacts on daily activities
Our Country

To know names of some places within/around the UK. E.g. Home town

Know the main aspects of the British Isles using maps

Know the name of, locate and identify characteristics of the four countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom

Know the surrounding seas of the UK
Our School, Our Area

Make observations about where things are e.g. within school or local area

To know how to use a simple picture map to move around the school

To know how to use aerial photographs and plan perspectives to recognise landmarks and the key human and physical features of the school’s surrounding environment
